Agoura Animal Clinic Veterinarians

Marc Silverman, DVM - Veterinarian and Co-Owner Dr. Marc Silverman is co-owner of Agoura Animal Clinic.  Although born in Columbus, Ohio, he grew up in southern California surrounded and influenced by the sciences and medicine.  Dr. Silverman’s grandfather was an analytical chemist, his father is an internal medicine human physician, and his brother is a respected human radiologist.  However, unlike his family’s pathway, Dr. Silverman pursued his medical dreams focusing toward the animal kingdom.  Since childhood, he worked and volunteered at pet shops, animal shelters, veterinary clinics, and the U.C.L.A. Leo G. Rigler Center for Radiologic Research as preparation for honing the skills he puts into practice each day.  Dr. Silverman passionately enjoys serving the animals and people that request his medical assistance.  He completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles and received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1984.  Dr. Silverman went on to attend Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 along with being elected to the Society of Phi Zeta, the honor society of Veterinary Medicine.  He is a member of a number of professional organizations such as the California Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association, and has passionately participated in many of the local community’s activities and groups.  Since arriving at the Agoura Animal Clinic in 1990, Dr. Silverman has been very active in the local schools and youth groups, participating in career days, helping Girl and Boy Scout troops earn special badges, and giving group tours of his hospital to many children of the community.  When not at Agoura Animal Clinic, he spends his spare time devoted to his pursuit of his second degree black belt ranking in Tang So Do Karate, his love of music performance and recording, and his family.  He and his wife, Liz, are the proud parents of two children, Michelle and Erin. The four-legged members of their family include two Labrador Retrievers named Homer and Reggie, and a Golden Retriever named Mollie.”
Brad Capper, DVM - Veterinarian and Co-Owner Dr. Brad Capper received his Bachelors degree in Animal Science in 1979 and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from U.C. Davis in 1983.  He met his future wife, Dr. Julie Capper, in veterinary school and they were married in 1984.  He worked in Van Nuys for 6 years before coming out to beautiful Agoura and working for Andy and Dore Ozdy in 1989.  In 2001, he and his partner, Dr. Marc Silverman, purchased Agoura Animal Clinic, becoming co-owners.  Dr. Capper’s veterinary interests include caring for dogs, cats, pocket pets and exotics, performing surgery, and performing ultrasonography.   He considers the human-animal bond one of the most precious things in life. His home life revolves around family and pets.  Brad’s and Julie’s oldest son, Ben, started medical school in 2011.  Their younger son, Adam, graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Political Science and currently works as a legislative assistant in Sacramento.  Their daughter, Shannon, started at Cal Poly in 2011 and will start physical therapy school after college graduation.   The Capper family pets include 2 lovable Border Collies, a Doxie/Chihuahua mix that looks just like the Border Collies except in miniature, a perfect cat, and a sweetheart rat.  We were very sad to say goodbye to their Pugs in 2013, who both lived to be 17 years old.  For fun, Dr. Capper loves the piano, traveling and hiking with the dogs.
Julie Capper, DVM Veterinarian/Technician/Business Assistant Dr. Julie Capper received her Bachelors degree in Biology from Cal State Northridge in 1979 and her Veterinary Doctorate from U.C. Davis in 1983.  Upon graduating, she worked in Chatsworth and Northridge until 2001.  When her husband, Dr. Brad Capper, and Dr. Marc Silverman, purchased Agoura Animal Clinic that year, she began to split her duties between home and helping run the practice.  She loves and cherishes family, friends and pets above all else.  She also enjoys hiking and is an avid reader.
Dr. Dawn Zeilinger, D.V.M. Dr. Dawn Zeilinger was born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, where, sadly, she did not learn to surf or dance the hula. She has always loved nature and animals of all kinds, from ladybugs to whales. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from UC Davis in 1998. Her special interests include pediatrics, geriatrics, and internal medicine, and she especially enjoys working with feline, rabbit, and pocket pet patients. She lives in Camarillo with her husband, son, and three cats, and would have a larger menagerie if her husband would let her! With an active young son, she doesn’t have any free time, but if she did, she would enjoy gardening and walking on the beach. She does make time to sing in her church choir.
Dr. Howard Baker, D.V.M. Dr. Baker has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1987.  He started his veterinary career at Agoura Animal Clinic, and worked at AAC from 1987 to 1998.  He was then a sole practitioner of All Cats Clinic in Ventura for one year before he joined forces with his business partners and opened two hospitals under the name of TLC Pet Medical Centers in West Hollywood and South Pasadena.  He was the medical director for the West Hollywood location from 1999 to 2013 and then became the medical director at their South Pasadena location in 2013. Dr. Baker has lived in California since moving from Colorado after graduation from Colorado State University in 1987.  He lives with his wife Sondra and their two dogs Fanta and Dobby.  Dr. Baker is currently an upper level brown belt in Suh Do Kwan Kung Fu and plans on successfully testing for his black belt in late 2017.  He and his wife love to travel and have had the opportunity to see such exotic locales as Bali, and several scuba diving locations throughout Indonesia, multiple locations in the Caribbean, cruising in Europe and Alaska, and of course everyone’s favorite exotic location, Las Vegas.  Dr. Baker loves golf, throwing the Aerobie and playing Trac Ball with Sondra.  Dr. Baker is an active real estate investor and enthusiast.  He loves reading and is constantly educating himself. Dr. Baker loves working with the animals and their families.  The challenge of veterinary medicine continues to intrigue him even after twenty nine years of practice.  He knows how vitally important it is to have excellent communication with clients. He strongly believes that the best care for our four legged family members comes when there is a combined effort and commitment by both the veterinary staff and our clients.  Working together will achieve the very best outcome for our animal friends!
